About us
Our method
Each year, five to six screenwriters developing their first or second feature film are selected to take part in a workshop consisting of two sessions. With the help of the mentoring team, they are guided through an in-depth study of their screenplays.
SUD ECRITURE’s method places the author’s intentions at the centre of the creative process and does not follwo any pre-established format or model. We start with a a general review of the script before going into detail, scene-by-scene, focusing on dialogue and structure. As each project is unique, the work is adapted to its specific characteristics: its narrative, universe, rhythm, atmosphere, dimension…
Sud Ecriture is based on collective work, where the participants have to read all the scripts and are invited to interact with each other’s projects. This exercise allows them to take a step back from their own screenplay and assess its weaknesses and strengths through working on the other scripts. They can then approach their own with a fresh perspective.
At the end of the workshop, individual meetings with the mentors provide a more intimate space for self-expression and allow participants to refine the recommendations made during the group sessions.
After the first session, the participants are given two to three months to rewrite their scripts, in online coordination with the mentoring team. The new versions go through the same process during the second session in a different location.
Objectives
- Sud Ecriture Workshops offer each participant the opportunity to:
Clarify their intention and vision for the project; - Find the structure of their script and strengthen the coherence of their characters;
- Identify potential ways to rewrite in line with these intentions and vision;
- Develop their mastery of screenwriting and their overall approach to screenwriting.
